Yes, but they tried to fit the delusion into the "red in tooth and claw" natural world after the fact. If a 'real" God actually created everything there would be no concept of evil, no need for death, nothing to call a sin and most importantly no pathetic justifications by Christians to explain away all the glaring problems.
