Why can't people just accept that I'm quiet?

I study childcare and this is my third year and I had a few friends in the first year but none since then and I'm fine with it but today in college I had a guidance meeting and she brought up how I find it hard to work in teams but I said but when you put me in a team I do work with the rest of the group and she was like yeah but you've got to talk to people in the cl too even when you are not working in groups. I just don't get it. I don't have to do it, it isn't a requirement so why is she pushing this? I mean I'm happy with what I'm doing and when I get put into a nursery I will work with the other staff. Just because I don't like to chit chat she is moaning. I mean I have a great life with my boyfriend and family and I'm happy but why can't I just be quiet otherwise?
