Was wicca created by hippy gift shop owners?

I mean really. I went into a large occult supply store in Long Beach, and all I saw was gift shop items. That seems to be the case with all of them. I tried getting into Wicca back when I smoked alot of pot, but even then it didn't make any sense. BTW Alester Crowley laid much of the groundwork for Wicca. If you don't know who he is, he was a British guy who claimed to be the Beast.
