Hungarian Culture?

My bf, is Slovakian/Hungarian. I dont understand the culture very well, i can understand some of the language but not the culture. He doesnt like the american culture or as I say "going out with me" (i.e parties, he sticks to his culture) How can I understand what they do? They do alot of , drinking, and partying. Which to be honest I dont mind at all. It's just i'd like to get out there and dance my heart out and stuff like that...but im not sure how to talk to him about it, understand where he's coming from...
